Findlater Castle
Near Cullen, Banff

This is a 14th century keep of which very little remains. The Ogilvies of Findlater apparently owned it until the Laird disinherited his son and turned the property over to the Earl of Huntly in 1560.

Findlater CastleHowever, the Earl rebelled against Mary, Queen of Scots and was beheaded. It was then returned to the Ogilvies in 1562 and the land abandoned in the 1600's when the family moved to Cullen.
